Holiday Club 2020

Virtual Holiday Club

As we cannot welcome you to the Holiday Club and Bread Church as usual this summer, we have organised a (mostly) virtual Club for you to partake in as you wish.

We have based the activities around the story of Noah in the Old Testament (Genesis Chapter 6 verse 1 to Chapter 9 verse 7). There are many parallels to our current situation which seemed to make it appropriate – a period of enforced lockdown, enduring time at close quarters with immediate family, working out how best to come out of lockdown, rainbows, and a promise to make the world a better place. We hope that you will see the relevance in the story.

Each week we will post an activity sheet on the church website and Facebook page. We hope you will take the opportunity to:

  1. Read or listen to the story of Noah’s Ark.
  2. Make some bread for yourself and to share with a friend, family member, neighbour.
  3. Make some delicious scones, which you are also welcome to share!
  4. Make an animal, which may have been included in Noahs’ Ark.
  5. Make a print of your hands in the colour of the week.
  6. Share your food in a family meal, using the Bread Church prayer.

We are sorry that we cannot provide the craft materials and lunch as we would normally do, but we have chosen activities that can be done with things we think you will have at home.

The food and craft are yours to do with as you wish. We will have an Ark in the window at church and pairs of animals will be added each week. We ask that you post your handprints through the letter box at church. Our aim is to build a rainbow of hands in the window over the period of the school holidays, as a symbol of our church community beyond the building.
